About me
Hello, I’m Alexandra Kedmenecz, a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist, and Sex Therapist with extensive knowledge and experience in pelvic health, pelvic floor training, and exercises. I am the Founder of the Heal Your Pelvis Differently (HYP-D) Method—a trauma-informed approach to pelvic healing.
MY
Journey
In 2015, a proctologist in Toronto diagnosed me with rectocele and organ prolapse, predicting I would need surgery within two years. Despite this prognosis, I have remained surgery-free and symptom-free, thanks to the HYP-D Method.
At 34, facing symptoms like urge incontinence, rectal and bladder prolapse, and pain during intercourse, I sought multiple medical opinions. Specialists in Europe recommended avoiding surgery and starting specific pelvic floor exercises instead. Within a month, most of my symptoms disappeared, and I felt a significant improvement in my condition.
This experience led me to become an intimate gymnastics (pelvic floor exercises) trainer. I trained women in Europe, the USA and Canada. I also practiced the exercises daily. My condition was maintained, but at a certain point it was not improving. Some symptom remained. I lost interest in feeling better or be healed. I lost interest in actively doing things for myself. I did many things for other people around me, but not for myself.
And here is where the recognition hit me hard.
As a practicing RSW, Psychotherapist and Sex Therapist who has expense understanding on how our body keeps emotions, fears, shame, abuse and neglect hidden, in our cellular level, I do know that it is almost impossible to treat only the body, muscles and leaving out the mind and emotions from the healing journey.
With my team and collegues, we had been researching different, ancient and evidence based pelvic floor programs all around the world for years. We recognized that most pelvic health, and pelvic floor healing programs miss trauma, abuse, fear, shame, self critic, and core beliefs such as “I am not lovable”, “I am not good enough”, “I do not desire to feel better”, that might be a possible barrier toward a long lasting pelvic healing.
Now, you know why I developed the HYP-D Method.
The HYP-D Method
The HYP-D method integrates trauma-informed, different somatic psychological techniques, the Polyvagal Theory, Mindfulness and CBT with evidence-based and researched backed pelvic floor exercises. These together helps to address not only the physical but also the emotional and psychological aspects of pelvic health.
The HYP-D Method brings a unique psychosomatic Pelvis-Mind-Emotions, integrative and complex approach to your pelvic care and pelvic floor healing journey.
The Beginning of My Psychosomatic Journey
My journey into psychosomatic health began 20 years ago when my daughter, then three years old, suffered from recurring respiratory diseases and tonsillitis. Traditional medical treatments provided no lasting solutions, prompting me to explore the connection between physical illnesses and emotional well-being. Through extensive research and various alternative therapies, my daughter’s health improved, and I discovered the profound link between our physical and emotional states. This realization shaped my approach to holistic healing, integrating the body, mind, and emotions.
I invite you to join me on this journey of integrative, trauma informed pelvic healing. Through the HYP-D Method, you can reclaim your pelvic health, overcome physical and emotional challenges, and lead a healthier, more fulfilling life.
